Janos Starker Recording

One of the most prolific cellists of our time has produced a new recording. His double CD with solo suites by Johann Sebastian Bach is about to be released (March 11). Over a period of 50 years, Starker has made more than 100 recordings. He is also an influential pedagogue who teaches master classes all over the world. Janos Starker was born in Hungary in 1924. After World War II, he first emigrated to France and then to the United States. Today, Starker is one of the most-demanded soloists, but during his first years in America he chose to play in several orchestras. Georg Hirsch spoke with the multi-faceted cellist and listened to his new CD.
