Minnesota Orchestra

For the first time in its history, the Minnesota Orchestra is coming to Europe, including Germany on its tour. The first stop is on February 25 in Duesseldorf, followed by Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, with its last German concert in Mannheim on March 2nd. Many of the musicians have Scandinavian ancestors who found a new home in the forests of the Northern American state. Returning to Europe, the Viking offspring are led by a Samurai -- music director Eiji Owe stems from high-ranking Japanese knights. The appearance of the orchestra is particularly interesting for German audiences because Owe will be starting a new job in Germany. The Radio Philharmonic of NDR Hannover has hired him as music director as of next season. Georg Hirsch visited Eiji Owe at his current work place in Minneapolis.
