Ormandy, Historic Recordings

This two-part feature is dedicated to historic recordings with Eugene Ormandy. It follows the path of a young violinist from Hungary who comes to the United States under unpleasant circumstances. He works his way up from a pit orchestra in New York to become the Music Director at the Philadelphia Orchestra. Recordings showcase Ormandy in various functions, e.g. as violinist, as music director of the Minneapolis Orchestra, and speaking on the radio.
