Steinway & Sons Plattenlabel

Steinway & Sons is a well-known piano maker, but that's not all: In 2010, Steinway established a record label in the United States, and now (July 2012), the company released the first five CDs in Germany. Three of these CDs are devoted to the music of one particular composer, namely Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. One CD titled "Silent Music" contains Frederic Mompou's "Musica Callada." The fifth CD is a collection of arrangements for two pianos: "When Words Fade" includes pieces from Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" to Mozart's Papageno aria, Rachmaninoff's Vocalise, and Cold Play's "Viva la Vida." In Germany, the piano maker Steinway uses the advertising slogan "The S-Class Among Grand Pianos," alluding to the luxury car maker Mercedes Benz. What about Steinway's CDs? Georg Hirsch listened to the first Steinway CDs available in Germany.
