Pianist Jeffrey Biegel

For the first three years of his life, Jeffrey Biegel could neither hear nor speak. After surgery fixed the problem, he started listening to his sister’s piano lessons, and music became his “first language,” even before English. As a young man, Biegel won the 1985 William Kapell Piano Competition, and today, he enjoys an international career. One of his fortes is virtuosic piano music, but his repertory stretches from baroque music through sonatas from Mozart’s childhood and piano arrangements of German Christmas songs to works that were dedicated to him. Biegel also composes and writes arrangements, and he was already active as an author: His website features the core of a music novel describing a journey through time.
